About Little Oyster Bar Point
Little Oyster Bar Point is a sand-bottom drop-off near Panama City, Florida, in the Panhandle region of Florida's Gulf state waters, where the bottom falls from 15 to 45 feet under moderate exposure. Red Drum peak from August through October and respond to inshore casting with soft plastic jerkbaits, jigheads with paddle tails, gold spoons, and topwater plugs worked along the edge of the drop. Sheepshead take over from January through March, when bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, or oysters on the deeper sand puts baits in front of feeding fish. Gray Snapper hold along the slope from May through August and come to bottom rigs baited with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid. Spanish Mackerel run from March through October and fall to small trolling spoons and diving plugs pulled across the break, while Common Snook round out the species list at the point.
