About Oaks by the Bay Park Pier
Oaks by the Bay Park Pier is a public fishing pier on St. Andrews Bay in Panama City, Florida, within the Panhandle region of Florida's Gulf state waters. Sheepshead lead the winter action from January through March, Spotted Seatrout peak in spring from March to May and again in November, and Spanish Mackerel run through the bay from March into October. Gray Snapper hold around the pier from May through August, Red Drum peak from August to October, and Common Snook round out the species list. Pier pilings draw Sheepshead to bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas dropped tight to the structure, and Gray Snapper respond to bottom rigs baited with live pinfish or cut sardines. Spotted Seatrout and Red Drum take soft plastic jerkbaits and paddle tails on jigheads cast from the pier, while passing Spanish Mackerel strike metal jigs and small spoons.
