About Panama City Beach

Panama City Beach is a stretch of open Gulf beach on the Florida Panhandle, where anglers work the surf line for a mix of inshore and nearshore species. Spanish Mackerel run the longest season here, peaking from March through October, while Spotted Seatrout peak in spring from March to May and again in November. Red Drum peak from August through October, and Common Snook round out the list of targets along this shoreline. Mackerel respond to metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons cast into the surf, and trout take soft plastic jerkbaits, paddle tail grubs on jigheads, and topwater walking plugs worked along the beach. For Red Drum, gold spoons and jigheads with paddle tails cover water from the sand, and cut mullet or blue crab halves fished on the bottom hold redfish in the wash.
