About Redfish Point Hump
Redfish Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle off Panama City, Florida, rising from 35 feet to the surface in the exposed outer waters of the Panhandle region. Red Drum headline the spot from August through October, when inshore casting with soft plastic jerkbaits, jigheads with paddle tails, gold spoons, and topwater plugs works the shallow crown of the rock. Sheepshead take over from January through March, holding tight to the hard bottom where bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, and oysters draws steady bites. Gray Snapper stack along the deeper flanks from May through August and respond to live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, and squid fished on the bottom. Spanish Mackerel patrol the water column from March through October, and trolling small trolling spoons or diving plugs around the hump intercepts them alongside occasional Common Snook.
