About Robinson Bayou

Robinson Bayou is a protected inner-bay arm off Panama City, Florida, with a soft mud bottom that runs 5 to 10 feet deep. Red Drum peak here from August through October and respond to soft plastic jerkbaits, jigheads with paddle tails, and gold spoons worked across the mud flats, with live shrimp and finger mullet as reliable live-bait options. Sheepshead take over from January through March, when bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, or sand fleas draws them to whatever hard structure breaks up the soft bottom. Gray Snapper peak from May through August and hold tight to cover, where bottom fishing with live pinfish or cut sardines produces steady bites. Spanish Mackerel push into the bayou's mouth from March through October and hit small spoons and gotcha plugs cast into feeding schools, while Common Snook round out the species mix in these sheltered, shallow waters.
