About Russell-Fields City Pier
Russell-Fields City Pier is a public fishing pier in Panama City, Florida, reaching out over the Gulf State Waters of the Panhandle Region. Sheepshead stack around the pilings from January through March and take fiddler crabs, sand fleas, live shrimp, or oysters fished on the bottom, with jig heads tipped with fiddler crabs or shrimp as a backup approach. Spanish mackerel run from March through October, and anglers on the deck cast metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons or drift live sardines and glass minnows to reach the passing schools. Gray snapper peak from May through August and hold tight to the pier structure, where bottom rigs baited with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid draw strikes. Red drum push in from August through October and hit soft plastic jerkbaits, paddle-tail jigheads, and gold spoons, and common snook also turn up among the pier's catch.
