About St. Joe Reef
St. Joe Reef is an artificial reef in the Florida Gulf State Waters of the Panhandle Region, south and east of Panama City. The site sits at 29.9181, -85.6608, placing it within the network of man-made structure that dots the nearshore Gulf along this stretch of coast. Artificial reefs like this one add hard relief to an otherwise open bottom, and that structure concentrates baitfish and the predators that follow them. Species records and depth data for St. Joe Reef are not yet on file, so anglers rely on their own electronics to locate the structure and read how fish hold on it. The reef's position in state waters keeps it within reach of boats running out of the Panama City area.
