About Sulphur Point
Sulphur Point is an outer, exposed rock drop-off off Panama City in the Florida Panhandle region of the Gulf, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Gray Snapper peak from May through August and hold tight to the rocky ledges, where bottom fishing with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, or squid puts baits directly on the structure. Sheepshead take over from January through March and respond to fiddler crabs and sand fleas fished on the bottom, with jig heads tipped with shrimp working along the same rock. Red Drum peak from August through October and take cut mullet, cut menhaden, and blue crab halves soaked near the break. Spanish Mackerel run from March through October and hit small trolling spoons and diving plugs worked above the drop-off, while Common Snook round out the species list.
