About Upper Goose Bayou
Upper Goose Bayou is a protected inner bay arm near Panama City, Florida, with a soft mud bottom and depths running 5 to 10 feet. Red Drum peak from August through October, when inshore casting with soft plastic jerkbaits, paddle-tail jigheads, gold spoons, and topwater plugs covers the flats and mud edges. Sheepshead take over from January through March, and bottom fishing with fiddler crabs, live shrimp, sand fleas, and oysters targets them in the deeper pockets. Gray Snapper peak from May through August and respond to bottom fishing with live pinfish, live shrimp, cut sardines, and squid. Spanish Mackerel run from March through October and hit metal jigs, small spoons, and gotcha plugs cast toward bait schools, while Common Snook round out the bayou's inshore lineup.
