About East Lap Reefballs
East Lap Reefballs is an artificial reef of concrete reefballs set in federal Gulf waters off Pensacola, Florida. The structure holds Gag Grouper, which peak from October through December, along with Red Grouper and Red Snapper, which run strongest from April through August. King Mackerel patrol the water above the reef from April through October, while Greater Amberjack peak in April and May and Gray Snapper fill in from May through August. Bottom fishing with live pinfish, cigar minnows, squid, or cut bait works the base of the reefballs for snapper and grouper, and live hardtails dropped over the structure draw strikes from amberjack. Over the reef, slow trolling live cigar minnows, menhaden, or blue runners targets King Mackerel.
