About Tarkiln Bayou Preserve Fishing Pier
Tarkiln Bayou Preserve Fishing Pier is a public pier in the Pensacola area of the Florida Panhandle, set within the Gulf state waters of the Panhandle Region. Spanish Mackerel lead the warm-season action from April through October, while Spotted Seatrout peak in March through May and again in October and November, and Red Drum push through in September and October. Gray Snapper hold around the pier from May through August, Sheepshead take over from January through March, and Common Snook round out the species list. Casting metal jigs, gotcha plugs, and small spoons covers passing Spanish Mackerel, and live shrimp under popping corks targets both seatrout and redfish. For Sheepshead and Gray Snapper, anglers fish the bottom along the pier pilings with fiddler crabs, sand fleas, and live shrimp.
