Jarvis Upper Range B Rear Light marks a rock pinnacle in outer exposed water off Charleston, Oregon, where depths run 10 to 25 feet over hard structure. The pinnacle holds Black Rockfish through their June to September peak and Blue Rockfish from April into August, both of which respond well to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits worked close to the rock. Lingcod concentrate over the same structure in winter, peaking from December through March, and take metal jigs and swimbaits or live greenling fished near the bottom, while Cabezon follow through their November to January window. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through the exposed water from June to September and are targeted by trolling cut-plug herring, spoons, and hoochies, and Pacific Halibut hold on the deeper margins from May to September on drifted herring, squid, and octopus. The shallow rock and outer exposure keep bait and predators tight to the pinnacle, so tactics that stay on the structure produce most consistently.
