About Cape Foulweather

Cape Foulweather sits off Depoe Bay, Oregon, where a rocky drop-off falls away across an outer-exposed depth range of roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon that peak from May through September and Coho Salmon that peak from June through October, both taken by trolling cut-plug herring, whole herring, anchovies, or flashers with hoochies, with mooching cut-plug herring as a supporting approach. Lingcod work the rock most heavily in February and March and respond to jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, or to live greenling fished on the bottom. Black Rockfish concentrate over the same rock through spring and summer, taking metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and swimbaits, while Cabezon peak from June through September and hold to jigged leadheads and swimbaits or bait fished with shrimp, squid, and crab. The rocky terrain and steep contour also carry Blue Rockfish, Copper Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Kelp Greenling across the depth range.
