North Rock sits off Gold Beach, Oregon, an outer-exposed drop-off over sand bottom running from 15 to 35 feet. Lingcod hold along the structure with a peak in January and February, while Pacific Halibut work the sand from March through August. Chinook Salmon move through in the summer months, peaking July through September, and Coho follow across a longer window from June into October, with Shelf Rockfish, Canary Rockfish, Sablefish, and Pacific Cod rounding out the mix. Anglers targeting lingcod jig metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the drop-off, then switch to drift fishing herring, salmon bellies, and squid across the sand for halibut. Salmon come to trolled cut-plug herring, whole anchovy, and flashers, with mooching whole or cut-plug herring a productive alternative on the exposed edge.
